In late April, Google announced they’ll be displaying organic (unpaid) shopping product listings for retail companies moving forward. Since 2012, retail and e-commerce companies were only able to showcase their products and catalogues on Google through paid efforts. This feature has now launched in the US and will be rolled out globally in the coming months.
Of course, Google will still deliver paid shopping ads as per usual. In the illustration below (CTTO: Search Engine Land), the organic product listings will appear below the paid shopping ads.
This is an excellent change from Google that can provide businesses a massive improvement for online exposure. By combining paid and organic shopping list advertisements, businesses can augment online real estate and brand prominence. It also gives consumers additional products to research and purchase, which may have flown under the radar in previous years.
